In general I tend to deal with politics in the periphery. This is out of both laziness and conscious choice. After reading the Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act of 2007 I got goose bumps. It became obvious that I need to get off my ass and actually begin paying attention.
Thanks to Beth at PixelRN for the heads up. Although I am stealing some of her links, go read what she has to say about it as well. I think it is way too important not to repeat the information here.
Read the text of the Registered Nurse Safe Staffing Act of 2007 here.
Link to WashingtonWatch.com which is where I got the widget on my side bar. There is also a forum to discuss the bill.
Cathy commented on Beth’s post and included a link to ValueCare, ValueNurses [dot] org which is an organization fighting for better work conditions for nurses. Although I haven’t read enough this morning to form an opinion as of yet, I wanted to post this just to raise awareness.
Included there is information about another federal act (Nurse Staffing Standards for Patient Safety and Quality Care Act of 2007) which was introduced by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL).
