3rd Annual Save the Tatas Boogie
May 23rd, 2009 by Emily
Thank you for your interest in supporting me and Beama for the
3rd Annual “Save the Ta tas” Boogie!
Until my mom’s very recent diagnosis with breast cancer, I was aware of the pink ribbons, knew of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but was, essentially, clueless. Over the past few weeks I have received more support and well wishes from not only those close to me, but from those who are directly affected by this disease.
Quite simply—I had no idea how many people around me have been touched by breast cancer.
As a nurse, I want to be able to do something. Help my mother in some way. That is what I do. I fix people. Instead of giving into my professional frustration at the situation, I realized I needed to look at this as her daughter, not as her nurse. That is when the opportunity to participate in the Save the Tatas Boogie fell into my lap.
I was aware of the boogie prior to my mom’s diagnosis and planned to participate. However, after her diagnosis I am now passionate about doing my part to make this the most successful year ever.
From the Premier Skydiving Website:
Premier Skydiving will once again host the 3rd annual “save the tatas” boogie to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation. On Friday July 10th, experienced jumpers will attempt to break the national record of the most loads flown from a Cessna 182 in one day, taking donations on a per jump basis. On Saturday and Sunday July 11th and 12th, 5% of all money received from student jumps will be donated to the foundation.
I appreciate the support of my family, friends, co-workers and friends from around the world I have met from my blog. You all have been the best.
If you are interested in sponsoring the event in cold hard cash, please send me an email. I have a donation link for the event taking PayPal in the upper right corner of my site. As with every fundraiser, every single bit helps!
At a minimum, please, PLEASE leave a comment of support for my mom here on this page. I would like this to go viral!
Every person who leaves a comment, or gives a donation will have their name added to a flag to be flown in “Beama’s” honor. So please leave her a comment of support! In the comment section please leave your name or “handle” (read: Twitter name!) to be put on the flag.
I would like to get as many names as possible.
Thanks again to all of your for your well wishes and love. Hopefully someday, there will truly be a cure.
With Love—-
