Social Networking and Unlikely Friends

I woke up this morning in a manic mood. I made a cup of coffee and plopped down behind my computer still humming from a cool experience last night.

For those of you who are not aware, Doctor Anonymous does a live broadcast, interviewing someone from the medical/nursing blogosphere. Although I was aware of it, last night was the first time I logged on and tuned in.

While I was sitting there, I watched names, very well known to me from my years of blogging, logging on. GruntDoc, Nick from MedGadget (who was interviewed) and Enrico from Mexico Medical Student, just to name a few. Sean at Nurse Sean (dot) com, and EmergencyEm from Backboards…are two bloggers I started reading very recently and had the chance to talk to.

Bongi at other things amanzi, whom I was introduced to through Grand Rounds, and Dr. Val at Dr. Val and The Voice of Reason were also there.

During the broadcast, a chat room was happening simultaneously. The interaction was incredible.  Doctor Anonymous has a recap here, and Sean mentioned his take on it here.  Sean even mentioned me in the post!

Speaking of critical care nursing, I have been looking through the blog and flickr album of crzegrl. She makes me want to be a flight nurse!

Dr. A—thanks again for opening up an avenue for us to gather. I look forward to your next broadcast!!!

To those I got the chance to talk to last night—it was great to finally meet you.

For my readers who haven’t logged in to Dr. A—meet me here next Thursday!

  1. Thanks so much for mentioning the show. I have to tell you, when doing the live show – it’s hard for me to notice what’s going on in the chat room. I wish I could hang out there more – have to work on that multitasking.

I hoping to grow the show and get more people to listen live and really get the live chat room going. If you have any ideas on how to make the show more fun, let me know. Thanks and see you next week where we will have the legendary Kevin MD on the show!
