Another reason I stayed here

Another reason I stayed here,

Teaching Joey to bake has been one of the most incredible things I
have done lately. I realized not long ago that my nieces and nephews
are old enough to be influenced by what we do for the rest of their
lives.

Joey will forever throw a towel over his shoulder when he cooks. He
may not quite remember why he does it, but that he just should. I am
still amazed at the amount of things he remembers but more
importantly, what he learns.

Kids are simply amazing.

Actually, sitting down and having a family style dinner on night shift
is yet another reason I love working here. L-R are my favorite
communicators, Wendy and Maria. Pilot Brad, and Dr. Thomas. We watched
the snowstorm moving in while we ate ourselves silly on incredible
homemade chili (yes, I was the chef!) and brownies I made with my
nephew Joey.

Some people ask me why I don’t simply quit my job and move to be with
Patrick in Los Angeles. It is hard to explain how leaving my job would
be like quitting my family. It isn’t the only reason I choose to stay
in Michigan, but it sure makes going to work a whole lot easier.

We sometimes play host to other flight companies. Tonight the fixed
wing from up north came down to take a pediatric patient to Chicago.
Our flight communicators do a ton of coordination work to make sure
everything goes smoothly. From l-r local ambulance, King Air plane and
Mike, my favorite flight com person!

Yes dear reader, you are correct. This is NOT the window of our
aircraft. And YES dear boss, that is Flight Doc Steve driving the
truck, plowing snow on the flight line. He WAS supervised and I was
there providing ‘medical coverage.’ Ok, and some back seat taunting…

Way of the blog—New Additions to crzegrl

I know my posting has been sparse the past week. Fear not, it HAS been for a good reason!

Over the past two weeks, I have hatched a plan for a new series of posts focused in on Flight Nursing as a profession based on your emails!

So, without giving too much away, I am creating a series of posts on how to become a flight nurse. They will be presented in a logical format and will include information on the profession, aircraft, crew management, patient population, etc. With that, I will use real life flight scenarios, photos, and the crzegrl vlog to bring it from a flat interest to a 3-D passion.

In the end, my goal is to end up with a resource for anyone interested in the flight nursing profession.

I do, however, need to ask a favor. Please, please PLEASE keep sending me your emails! Send me questions, ideas or comments as I want to be sure this resource covers as much as possible. Every time I get something emailed from one of you, I am able to look at what I do through different eyes, and it gets me excited about flying and nursing all over again.

Until then, enjoy the new vlog entry and be sure to visit the comment section where I linked to not just my vlog entries, but to video of some of my flights!

crzegrl’s vBlog entry no. 2!

I’d like to officially thank Mark K., Flight Nurse and tech guru’s for helping me out. It was his first go-round with his editing software and I am giddy with the results. This entry was taped in one take over 15 minutes at shift change. What you are looking at is some serious flight nurse bed head and quite frankly, I am pleased that Mark and I could wing something so well.

With that said, I will send an official Aero Med calendar to the first person to find the goof and post it in the comment section! (Kevin, you will be getting yours in the next few days so I am officially disqualifying you . . . )

So, Mark—-thanks for the help. And Ronbo/Dr. Mark? You guys are great for my ego!
