Medical Blog Awards
Hey, have been meaning to put up a blurb about the Medical Blog Awards. Nominations are done through the comments section here at Medgadget and end TODAY!!!
I’m headed over to see who all has been nominated and more than likely add a few more to my RSS reader!
Good luck to all those in the running!
New Blogs in my RSS and why I need DuoDerm
50
…..new blogs in my NetNewsWire subscription list.
Seems that the 84 I finished with after the latest clean out were just not enough!
I will be spending the afternoon wading through them and determining which to keep, which to highlight on my blogroll and which to delete.
Maybe I ought to un-ass myself from the bed sometime today too. I think my laptop has permanently imbedded itself into my thighs.
Oh, and does anyone have a spare DuoDerm? I think I have a stage II pressure sore on my butt.
HAVING FEED ISSUES!!!!
The original feed was working. It was supposed to be a FeedBurner feed. The first FB feed didn’t work on the RSS links from my site, so I set up a second to test it. That worked (shoulda left well enough alone) but I had multiple readers using the other feed. SOOOOoooo I deleted the test FB feed. Now my original RSS feeds are POSSESSED and won’t look elsewhere. Ack!
I think I really screwed something up and cannot figure it out……
I need some coffee.
Web 2.0 increases the risk of DVTs
Pish Posh!
No my dear reader, I am referring to the un-godly number of hours I have spent immersed in the world of Web 2.0, all the while, firmly planted on my ass.
Please refer to the additions and changes to my side bar where you will find a lovely linking graphic displaying my web presence in all of its nerdy glory. Yes, I really do use all of those. Oh allllright. I use some more than others. Out of the new additions, I am particularly fond of the Twitter widget, and am liking the usability of coComments.
[and while adding the hyperlink to Twitter above I got notification that NPsSaveLives just added me. HooHoo!]
Yummy to my nerdy tummy!
I spent too much time working on updating my blogroll. If your link disappeared and you are still blogging, please send me an email so I can put you back. I also did my best to update my RSS aggregator. There was a lot I needed to clean out there as well.
I know by now, you must be asking yourself the following question:
Why on earth does a geek girl like me need MySpace, FaceBook AND a blog?
Very simple to answer that one!
Because . I . Can
Now that I have successfully completed my winter web weeding, I am going in search of new stuff to read! But, then again, maybe I will leave that until tomorrow when I won’t have to worry so much about the blood clots forming in my legs from physical inactivity.
Before I return to my regularly scheduled nerdiness, i will leave you with two tidbits of information:
1) I have an announcement to make about something that is scaring the bejezzzes out of me but is exciting all the same.
2) From the far reaching realms of my nerdy mind, I will be rolling out something new in the next 2 days. Please wait with baited breath!
Alright. Put a fork in me. I am done.
Today’s View
The weather finally cleared up enough this morning for us to fly.
Fortunately for our patient it stayed clear as our first request
didn’t come until 4 p.m.
This photo was taken on our way to the sending hospital over one of
the small airports scattered around the state.
Yes, that IS a farm on the edge of the runway!
Brand New Blogger added to blogroll
Although her blog is new (3 posts) and I popped her comment cherry, her path to RN will be an interesting one. I hope she keeps blogging.
Besides all that, I think she is in my neck of the woods. We grow ‘em tough up here!
My Most Unexpected Christmas Memory
It began with dinner at the ‘New-New House.’ Mom and dad, brother and sisters (and their spouses), nieces and nephews, and Patrick and B.J. were all present for the holiday christening of my parent’s new home. Although Sarah and B.J. postponed their beer drinking rematch (my money is on Sarah!), Lily was the queen of the veggie dip conduit (carrot) thanks to Uncle Patrick.

Next came time with Patrick’s family in southern California. It was our first Christmas all together with his family in years. It was amazing to just simply sit with them and spend time in their beautiful, peaceful, new house. Of the days spent with them, I am also grateful for not one, but two, afternoons with one of the most poised, intelligent and interesting men I have ever met. Peter–I look forward to many more long conversations and simply being in your company.
Yesterday, prior to heading back to the cold of Michigan, I spent a few short hours with both a my great friend Rene from the Army, as well as my Uncle Michael and his partner Heather, all of whom I haven’t seen in years. As always, it was just not long enough!
Out of all of these great memories of Christmas 2007, the most unexpected of all, was the time I had with Kevin, his wife Monica and Paul over video iChat on Christmas evening.

Afterward, I smiled like a crazy girl with an amusing inner dialog for the rest of the evening.
Not to be forgotten were all of the well wishes from people all over the country and world in the form of email, text messages and comments on my blog/myspace/facebook. It was great to hear from you all.
So, as I refocus my energies on something other then completing the next stage of Star Wars Lego on Patrick’s PS3, I am basking in the memories from this holiday season. I was reminded, yet again, how rich my life is because of those I love.
