Okay folks, I have 4 days until the dreaded Paramedic exams. I just keep telling myself that it will be all worth it when I am able to spend Saturday night celebrating the end to my certification/degree hunt.

I will either be VERY intoxicated, or VERY asleep. Either one will not be bad.

Okay, enough of this short procrastination break….

Oh, I was also given a gift and got canceled off of work tonight. Damn the blade strike on our primary aircraft! (our secondary has smaller engines so we don’t take an extra crew member.) Much happy I am!

I am really going to study now, REALLY!

If you want something done, give it to a busy person to do.

A few years ago someone decided that November was “National Novel Writing Month.” As with everything internet, a good idea spawns other good ideas and “National Blog Posting Month” was born.

Although I am too late to be an official participant in this years NaBloPoMo, I am still in time for the NaNoWriMo.

Confused?

The point of Blog Posting Month is to write a legitimate post every day in the Month of November. So I am following along as a lurking participant. (hat tip: Jen)

The point of Novel Writing Month is to write a 50K word novel in November.

These are both things that I have been kicking around in the back of my already taxed brain of mine. What better time than now? Besides, I forget every November about the Novel writing one, so starting late on day 5 is better than starting late on day 20, right???

Oh, and I am marking June on my calendar for Script Frenzy.

(Kevin—you better be marking your calendar as well! btw: Montage may be a good purchase!)

Alright, I am off to think up a plot.

Although I don’t usually believe the statistics from my host regarding my URL, the one I am continually fascinated with includes a country listing of “readers.” My suspicion is that most of those are generated by the spam slime I spend hours combating.

However…

If you are indeed an international reader of mine, would you be so kind as to leave a comment? The country I am fascinated with today (among others) is Burkina Faso. For those of you needing a geography lesson, it is a land locked country in Africa formerly named the Republic of Upper Volta. If there is indeed someone reading from there, Thank YOU!!!

If not, all is well. I would love to hear from Algeria, Vietnam, UAE, Jordan, Nigeria, Lithuania, Iran, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia…….

The entire list is after the jump.

Has anyone else seen the previews for this?? Looks like I am going to run upstairs and set my TiVo. Can’t decide if it will be good fun, or just irritating as it is touted as “Sex in the City” meets Nursing…….hmmmm.

Regardless, I am sure there will be more than a few nurses pissed about this.

For some reason, that makes it a bit better IMHO. I like it when nurses get their preverbal panties in a bind.

For some reason, I am struggling for something to write about. Trust me when I say that my life is anything but dull right now. I finally feel as thought I am creating a foundation both socially and professionally. My job is challanging beyond anything I could hope for. Patrick is on track with his new profession. I am going to go back to traveling, which I love to do. I will be spending time with friends new and old over the next few weeks…

So why am I pounding my brain for something to write about?

*sigh*

I guess my brain just needs a jump-start, or some more Diet RockStar and GG Vodka….yummmmm

He speaks first; sharing what he was told. The sketchy information increases the tension.

His game face is traditionally grim. Seriousness oozes from him as he contemplates the moves he must make. His body is still in the dim light, hands clasped in front of elbow that are propped on knees. He sits staring at the floor.

Her mental preparation is the complete reverse. She busies herself, checking and rechecking her gear, arranging it just so. She knows that chaos can be partially controlled by being organized. With everything in its place it reduces the chance of fumbling when it matters.

He lifts his head as she settles back into her seat. He speaks with purpose recognizing what they both hope is the worst possible scenario. It breaks the ice and in short concrete sentences they devise a strategy.

The pilot initiates the landing sequence. They descend from the late summer night sky after locating the prearranged rendezvous point. Stillness greets them after an uneventful landing. Their patient as yet to arrive.

In silence they unconsciously check the equipment one last time, all the while mentally dissecting other possible scenarios and their solutions.

As they scan the distance for the inevitable red lights, the pilot swings the stretcher into position. All that is left is to wait.

She sees it first and reflexively reaches for her part of the equipment. He instinctively does the same.

They move towards their objective. If it was only as simple as scoring a goal.

Their game is one of life, teetering on the very fine edge of death.

The first of November brings a laundry list of trips, tasks and milestones to be experienced before the end of the year.

*Paramedic exam in Memphis

*Tattoos in Philly

*Motorcycle rides and more tattoos in Savannah

*Christmas over cocktails in Detroit

All four with dear friends who I rarely see. What a great way to end the year.
