Det 3

Well, my boys went down in an ugly way tonight.

I guess it is up to the Tigers now.

I’m not holding my breath, but they are looking pretty damn good this season.

The Vocera Badge and medGadget rant

Will someone who uses these things talk to me about HIPAA and confidentiality compliance? The white paper from the company which addresses HIPAA basically says, “Don’t say anything when in front of anyone, and don’t answer when in front of anyone.”

This seems VERY unrealistic as it runs off of a speaker phone type thing. Apparently you have the ability to use a headset, but does anyone really do that?

medGadget Rant: The Vocera Badge

On a side note, I normally have no issues with medGadget as their content is always worth the read. Unfortunately, the following quote was added as part of the above entry:

According to Vocera Communications, a company out of Cupertino, California, a hospital in the UK is introducing “an innovative system that allows its staff to contact each other instantly anywhere in the hospital through a voice activated, wearable badge.” In other words, a new, instantaneous, Star Trek inspired voice activated way for nurses to bother doctors.

Rant—Now, either this entry was written by an Intern who has had a rough go of it as of late, or a resident that has not been properly beaten as of yet. Either way, I have found that in my position as a Nurse Practitioner, the phone calls sent to me because the resident cannot be found are because THE RESIDENT / ATTENDING DID NOT DO THEIR JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.–End of Rant

Rough day

It has just been one of those days.

The company Patrick was contracted with decided not to renew as of the 15th of June.

A business we were in the beginning stages of purchasing ended up being a bad deal so that was tanked.

Both bombs were dropped within 5 hours.

Back to square one.

Anyone have need of an extremely intelligent West Point graduate with a TON of leadership/managment experience?
